Why Do Supports Have High Base Dmg

  1. Why Do Supports Have High Base Dmg In Linux
  2. Why Do Supports Have High Base Dmg In Windows 7
As the title states, Viper Strike isnt affected by Chaos Damage % Nodes.
I certainly do hope that this is a bug, and not on purpose.

yes ... i've got also the problem, that the taken chaos damage nodes are not scaled in my viper strike.
seems to be a bug?! i hope so ... otherwise such nodes would be nonsens.

Wow so glad I checked the forums before I started clicking regrets.

I have checked these again and confirmed they are working.
The issue might be that your tool-tip values are not updating, this is because that tool-tip shows a base value, which is not affected by chaos damage, or damage over time (degeneration) modifiers, so when you take these nodes, that value will remain constant, and only changes with gem level.
The chaos damage nodes are increasing Viper Strikes degeneration damage correctly.

So why do we have a tooltip that shows base value rather than effective value?
If I want base values I can look at the gem.
When I kill a man he stays dead.

Could you update the tooltip then?
Having only the base value show, makes no sense at all.

Been leveling with the viper strike, and i am around level 38ish now.
Never in the history of PoE have i seen a weaker attack..
Why must it be so weak, while just about every other attack in the game, facewrecks whatever they encounter?(with the right supps ofcourse), which isnt the case with viper.
been experimenting with tons of support gems to see if i could get something going with its DoT, but no. nothing at freaking all.

Thank you for advice .. that means i can start a new char .. again .. without the chaos damage skills. i was expecting that damage effect would be high enough on higher levels to facewreck at least - some - monsters.
My very last try before I start new, will be with some crit chance and crit multiplier supports because i am going also on crit in my char.
at least i can confirm, comparing to other attacks viper strike is the weakest one ever in my 'short' time on poe and i noticed how much reduced in past time.
fear the cold of my heart ...

I don't understand why poison arrow shows modified DoT in tool-tip but VS shows only base DoT.
I think no one cares about base DoT since you can check it directly on gem. But right now, there is no way to see actual DoT value causing by VS and how is affected by damage modifiers.
And yes, damage still sucks. It's not so bad against non-chaos resistant mobs, but killing mobs with chaos resistance, is so looong, boring and frustrating. White mobs with chaos resist are often bigger problem than rare mobs without resistance. When you meet rare mob with HP regen, HP regen aura, curse immunity and chaos resistance, you are not able to kill it by DoT even if you full spec into it.
So the major problem with VS damage is in my opinion high density of chaos resistant mobs, which have too high chaos resistance without possibility to lower it or penetrate it.

Ok as other players are experiencing the same as me ... I conclude a little wishlist by my personal view ;-)
1. Please update the tooltip for VS. Base dmg makes really no sence when your are going on chaos dmg skill points. And also for 'added chaos damage support'?! I used it once but i do not remember anymore if the tooltip shows the base dmg or actual dmg.
2. Please increase dmg ov VS or reduce chaos resistance of hp regen /hp regen aura mobs.
I do not believe that these things will happen, but I can wish :D

(Yes, I realize that 737,658 bytes times all the millions of downloads that dmg gets does add up, but it just always seems annoying to have that extra steps in there to mount a dmg, run the installer and then unmount the dmg. Maybe a better question is 'why doesn't Mac OS X recognize a dmg with a single pkg inside it as just a pkg and simply.

  1. Oct 28, 2016 I dont do damage in pvp. 4-5k would be more right. But it's magicka build after all, magicka dont have high burst dmg. Is open-world and supports up to 2000.
  2. Mar 22, 2016 I have an AUG that gives me a DPS score of about 135k (my firearms is about 2800), but, I do about 12.1k DMG per bullet and melt level 32 NPC's because of my weapon mods, weapon talents and gear talents that give me a huge boost in crit hit damage and enemy armor damage.
  3. Added Cold Support and Added Lightning Support have been buffed, bringing them on par with the Added Chaos Support gem. Added Cold Support now does 35.1% more damage at gem level 20. Added Lightning Support now does 17.5% more damage at gem level 20. 2.0.0: Increased the added damage at all levels. No longer grants increased chill duration.
