In fact, even VideoLan doesn't have 2.2.7, it has only 2.2.6 as its latest rev. This isn't the first app that MacUpdate said had an update, when MacUpdate installed an old version I. VideoLAN and the VLC development team are happy to publish version 2.2.8 of VLC media player today. This release fixes a security issue in the AVI demuxer.
